North Dakotans are getting pretty lucky with the lottery lately.

According to Grand Forks Herald, someone bought a one million dollar Powerball ticket from a Cenex in Williston. And this is not even the first time that particular location has sold a million-dollar ticket! It reportedly happened back in 2013 as well. And North Dakotans are kind of having a stroke of luck with lottery tickets right now. Just last week, someone from Glenn Ullin won $100,000.

What would it be like to suddenly have such a large amount of money?

Winning a big lottery would be so life-changing and amazing! Of course, you may have read or heard about horrors experienced after winning the lottery, but money really can buy happiness! I believe so, anyway. Even if I won $100,000, I would pay off all of my bills and invest some of those newly won dollars. I would also likely go on a little shopping spree and adopt a couple more cats.

What is the likelihood of a person winning the lottery?

It is fun to dream about things we would do if we won the lottery, and it could happen. But what is the likelihood that someone would strike it rich by playing the lottery? Earlier this year, a Florida news station put together a list of five things that are more likely to happen to you than win the lottery. Those things are:

  1. Being killed by hornets, wasps, or bees
  2. Becoming President of the United States
  3. Becoming a movie star
  4. Going to the emergency room with a pogo stick-related injury
  5. Having conjoined twins

There is exactly one thing on that list that seems even remotely cool. Being killed by bugs or ending up in an energy room with a pogo stick-related injury seriously sounds so painful.
