I don't think there's any question that North Dakota loves its red meat.

After all, beef, it's what's for dinner.  That slogan is especially true in the Roughrider State, where we have more cows than people.  Our ranchers in North Dakota supply a lot of hamburgers and steaks to the world.

However, I don't think anybody can deny there's something about a good-tasting piece of chicken.

Don't believe me, just look at the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A in Bismarck.

There's always a long line.  So much to the point that I STILL haven't eaten at one of my favorite restaurants.  I've had Chick-fil-A in Grand Forks before but never in Bismarck, because I rarely have an extra 20 minutes to wait in line for fast food.

Now there are rumblings that Bismarck's Chick-fil-A is about to get some competition.

You've probably seen TV commercials for this popular chicken restaurant many times.  In fact, the jingle is playing in my head as I type this.  There are currently two of these chicken fast-food chains in North Dakota already.  One in Fargo and the other one on the Minot Air Force Base.

I'm speaking of Popeyes Chicken, and it's coming to Bismarck.

We have from a reliable source that Popeyes will open up shop next to the new Tommy's Car Wash on South Expressway.  As a south-ender, I love this.  I'm actually surprised Popeyes is not going up north like everything else.

No timeline was given on when Popeyes will open but you can expect the ground to be broken yet this year.

According to Wikipedia, Popeyes Chicken is currently in more than 46 states, and in over 30 countries worldwide with 3,705 restaurants.
