The Closure of Little Cottage Cafe

We lost Little Cottage Cafe in Bismarck back in October of 2025. It all started with health issues for one of the owners. Little Cottage was literally legendary when it came to cafes in the Capital Region. They were known for many tasty dishes, and they were praised for their treats like caramel rolls, scotcheroos, and so many others. You can read more about what started as reduced hours and eventually led to a full-blown closure below.

Since then, Little Cottage has been vacant for many months. There has been a lot of speculation on what might move into the space. Some said Big Boy would expand and take up that valuable piece of real estate on Main. It appears that is not going to happen.

I received a tip a few days ago that a friend was told by an employee who works at a Mexican Restaurant that they will be moving from their location to the former Little Cottage Cafe spot. It appears that it is true. In fact, ironically, this restaurant also has "Little" in its title.

A Little Taste of Mexico is Moving to the Little Cottage Location

This is according to at least a couple of their employees, the family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant, known for its authentic, homemade-style food with generous portions, including popular items like Carne Asada fries, street tacos, and burritos.

A Little Taste of Mexico is currently located at 2700 State Street in Bismarck, in the Gateway Mall. According to one of their employees, they hope to be in their new location sometime in June.

We wish them well in their new venture.
