How Do North Dakota Gas Prices Rank In 2025
No matter what we do, we have to get from point A to point B, and unless you are a big fan of walking or biking, the price of gas is always going to be a thing you have to factor into your budget.
Gas prices throughout the country are constantly fluctuating. According to Yahoo Finance, gas prices were priced highest in 2022 when the average cost per gallon peaked at $5.02 in June of that year.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Association, the cheapest gas prices dropped to was in February of 2016. On average, the cost per gallon was $1.76. That's incredible, seeing as how prices per gallon now, in 2025, are over $3.00.
What about North Dakota? How does our state compare to other states in terms of cost per gallon in 2025?
According to KX News, gas per gallon has gone up $.047 since last year. The current average cost is $2.91/gal, which puts us pretty low in comparison to other states - 16th lowest. While that might not be as low as 2016, it's still something we can appreciate, especially seeing the states that have the highest prices.
Lending Tree listed the states with the highest cost per gallon in 2025; they include California ($4.51), Hawaii ($4.48), Washington ($4.40), and Oregon ($4.00).
The states with the lowest cost per gallon in 2025 are Mississippi ($2.72), Oklahoma ($2.75), Nashville ($2.78), and Texas ($2.79). While gas prices aren't exactly where we would like them to be right now, they have certainly been worse.
