Texas Flood Recovery Gets Crucial Help From North Dakota’s Air National Guard
It's all over the news. The flooding in Texas is causing chaos and tragedy after tragedy. It heartbreaking to see this in the news.
A massive flash flooding event took place in Texas over the Fourth of July weekend. According to AP News, as of today (Monday, July 14th) 132 people have died and 160 people in Kerr County are still missing statewide.
The Guadalupe River surged all the way up to 37 feet, decimating nearby campgrounds, and small communities. Even now, weeks later, people in the impacted areas are trying to find their lost loved ones.
To help with this, ND Air National Guard is doing something quite heroic.
According to Valley News Live, a MQ9 unmanned aircraft is being flown by a 7 member team from a base in Fargo, using satellite technology.
The source says they are using this tech for search and rescue efforts. This aircraft allows them to look in paces that don't have roads or are difficult to see from the ground.
The team started working in Texas on Thursday of last week (7/10) and they will continue their recovery efforts through this Wednesday (7/16).
We wish the North Dakota Air National Guard luck with their efforts and are keeping the families affected by these floods in our thoughts and prayers.
If you would like to help the Texas flood victims, you can donate to the Kerr County Relief Fund, American Red Cross, and several other Texas-based organizations.
