This was one of those things people were afraid of before this past April

We all knew it was planned and going to happen - The strip here in Mandan - Memorial Highway  - was going to undergo construction, for how long though? Nobody seemed to know for sure; it could be at least two years, some people were saying. Here is one thing that most people couldn't know or plan on: that business owners along the strip would see a major decline in sales.

Here is where the city of Mandan stepped up

This was posted for all to read back in May:

"What's Going On?

"Memorial Highway in Mandan, ND is currently undergoing a reconstruction project which will not only repair but enhance the driving experience for those entering Mandan.
Construction plans include brand new sidewalk, curb-and-gutter installation for the whole length of the road, proper street lighting, turning lanes, medians, state-of-the-art intersections, and a replacement of water, sewage and electricity infrastructure.
The long-term project will not close Memorial Highway, but is sure to deter typical through traffic. In light of this adjustment, the Mandan Progress Organization is creating a gift card program which allows locals to get more than what they pay for."

A reminder for all of us working and living here in Mandan

"In late May, the Mandan Progress Organization launched a Memorial Highway Gift Card Program, where individuals can purchase digital gift cards from local participating businesses directly at VisitMandan.com. Each card is delivered as a digital wallet file that appears on your phone just like a regular credit card. You can use the card to shop online or pay in person. As part of the program, the City of Mandan is contributing a 25% match that is automatically issued as a separate bonus card at no additional cost"
