Just a couple of days ago, there was an accident that could have been avoided

Easier said than done, right? I mean, the two intersections that I saw, over by Bismarck High School, had a stream of cars on both lanes ( one way ) moving at a fast clip. Last Monday, October 27th, a high school student was hit by a car. This wasn't the first time either that a near fatality took place. At first reported, her injuries were non-threatening. That information turned out to be wrong. This young lady was seriously hurt. Will this latest incident motivate others to improve this dangerous situation?

"The Bismarck Police Department confirmed that the crash on 7th Street was a vehicle-pedestrian crash"

According to kxnet.com "A 46-year-old man was driving a truck and struck a 15-year-old female student, as she was crossing the street in the crosswalk. The student was hospitalized, and BPD says her injuries appear to be non-life-threatening." Once again the first reports of her injury were wrong. A first responder wasn't sure she was going to make it - her injuries were serious.   The location of the accident was closed to the public - 7th Street from B Street to F Street. Here is another crosswalk right there on 7th:

Some obvious Concerns and frustrations from people here in Bismarck and Mandan

I noticed this yesterday on the Bismarck People Reporting News Facebook Page.  A concerned individual made some interesting and precise comments that speak clearly of this area: "What will it take to make the BHS crosswalk safe for the students and other pedestrians? The vehicles speed down 7th street like it's a race track. You can barely see the students walking during traffic high times..( This is my favorite part of what this person wrote ) - "I wish they would put up flashing lights above the crosswalk, so you can really see the crosswalk or build a pedestrian bridge )

Something definitely needs to be done.
