This wonderful place in Bismarck is so special; it radiates real passion and care for others

We have all heard the news, and unfortunately, some of us in Bismarck and Mandan are experiencing our government shutdown firsthand. Just how long will some people work and not get paid for their efforts? What is the government shutdown all about anyway?

"The US government shutdown continues..."

Wel,l to make it as clear as possible, according to bbc.com "The US government shutdown continues, with Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Congress no closer to ending their budget standoff. It means that many - but not all - US government services are temporarily suspended, and around 1.4 million federal employees are on unpaid leave or working without pay." So check this out, like so many others, I have sympathy for those who are going through it, and something caught my eye on Facebook yesterday that basically sent a simple message to everyone.

"...Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe is open six days a week and is available to anyone who is hungry..."

Yesterday, this special place posted this:

"As the government shutdown continues and snap benefits end, please know that the Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe is open six days a week and is available to anyone who is hungry. Many don’t realize that of the 200 - 300 meals we serve each day, only about 25 - 30% of our guests are actually homeless. The rest are the working poor, elderly and families with kids etc… Please spread the word that everyone is welcome and that anyone can come to the Soup Cafe for a delicious home-cooked meal. We have always thought of this as our community cafe! Come and enjoy! Don’t worry about us running out of food – the Lord always provides.

Plain and simple: Government shuts down, but not OUR Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe
Thank you to all involved with this terrific place.
