In the struggling economy that we are currently in, it's hard to imagine a company willingly giving up revenue.

That is exactly what Target plans to do this Thanksgiving as they are, once again, one of the few large retailers that are closing all of their doors on Thanksgiving Day so that employees can spend more time with their family.

The official statement that Target has released, to prepare all of it's customers to get what they need from the giant retailer before Thanksgiving Day is as follows.

"Keeping our stores closed on Thanksgiving is possible because we’ve built our team — and Target’s strong business model — to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours."

This is a rather new thing for Target as they only started closing all of their doors for 24 hours for Thanksgiving last year.

If you're thinking that this won't effect you, you might just be one of the only two out of every 10 people who aren't customers. That's right, 8 out of every 10 United States residents is a Target shopper.

Target isn't alone, if you are saying to yourself that you'll just get what you need last minute for Thanksgiving at Walmart, think again. Walmart will be closed for Thanksgiving as well.

At Target.com, they boast how meaningful this day is off to their employees by posting some of their testimonials. One employee offered this up:

"My daughters and I open our house to anyone who wishes to join our Thanksgiving. Family, friends and neighbors come for a big meal of turkey, wings, cornbread, collard greens and mac and cheese. After dinner, we draw names for Secret Santa gifts, and we finish the day with homemade banana pudding."

While everyone is losing money, employees included, people are willing to put the money on the back burner to spend time with their families. An amazing sentiment.
