
Williston Voters Head To The Polls For Key Elections
Voters across North Dakota, including those in Williston and Williams County, will head to the polls Tuesday, June 9, for the state’s primary election, with a full slate of local and statewide races to be decided.
In Williston, several key city races headline the ballot. Four candidates — Cory Swint, Shawn Roness, Mason White and James Bervig — are running for Commission President. In the City Commission race, where voters may select two candidates, Matthew Clark, Heidi Johnson and Howard Klug are competing. Emily Ramage is running for Municipal Judge, while Derrick Linghor, Chad Brown and Logan Jangula are seeking three open seats on the Williston Park Board.
Countywide, voters will also weigh in on races for sheriff and county commission, while statewide primaries will determine party nominees for several high-profile offices.
In the race for North Dakota’s U.S. House seat, Republicans Alex Balazs and Julie Fedorchak are competing, while Trygve Hammer is the Democratic-NPL candidate. Secretary of State candidates include Republican Michael Howe and Democrat Ryan Braunberger.
For Attorney General, Republican Drew Wrigley faces Democrat Tim Lamb, while Agriculture Commissioner candidates include Republican Doug Goehring and Democrat Vern Thompson.
Public Service Commission races include Republicans Sheri Haugen-Hoffart and Deven Styczynski, along with Democratic-NPL candidate John M. Pederson. For an unexpired two-year term, Republicans Jill Kringstad and Chris Olson are running, with Democrat Scot Kelsh also on the ballot.
Other statewide races include Tax Commissioner, with Republican Brian Kroshus and Democrat Mark Nelson, and Superintendent of Public Instruction for an unexpired term, featuring Levi Bachmeier, Tracy Layne Foss and Charles Tuttle.
Judicial races include Supreme Court candidates Jerod Tufte and Ariston E. Johnson, as well as Douglas A. Bahr for an unexpired term. Voters will also decide Constitutional Measure No. 1.

Only voters residing in Precincts 54, 65, 68 can vote
Voters must present valid identification before receiving a ballot and must choose either a Republican or Democratic column for partisan races. Absentee ballots must be received by the county before polls close in order to be counted.
