Important information to share. Unfortunately for us all, I'm sharing the info with people that need it. Sorry for your loss.

Maybe this is news they give you at the hospital as you bid your loved ones goodbye. Me, I had no idea that the government has set up a funeral assistance program through FEMA that can help families with the added burden of funeral expenses

Through August 30th, 2021, FEMA has already green-lit nearly $2.8 million in North Dakota-based funeral assistance payments. If you have a loved one that has passed away with COVID listed as the cause of death...I strongly suggest you inquire here about FEMA assistance options.

There are actual proactive provisions that may apply to lives lost previous to May 16 2020.

On June 29, 2021, we amended the funeral assistance policy to assist with COVID-19 related deaths that occurred in the early months of the pandemic.

This policy change will allow applicants to submit a signed statement from the certifying official on the death certificate or the  local medical examiner, or coroner, that attributes the death to COVID-19 deaths that occurred between Jan. 20 and May 16, 2020.

But this provision is available for all families/individuals that are struggling against the effects of COVID today. Cremation services in Bismarck can start as low as $6,465 which is still a life-changing amount of money paid out for a life-changing loss. It seems the country has established through FEMA, a no-fault-of-your our own provision, into assistance and has grouped COVID funeral expenses as part of their emergency response.

I'd be a little argumentative about this subject if I didn't personally know some folks that could sure use a little help burying their loved ones during the ongoing pandemic.

Of course, the leeches come out during the process...

FEMA said scammers have been checking obituaries and cold-calling relatives of people who died of COVID, offering to complete the registration process for them. If you are contacted out of the blue, Verde advised hanging up and calling FEMA directly.

Again, sorry for your loss.
