Heavy thunderstorms triggered Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings overnight early Monday morning.

The Bismarck Bubble prevented the Capital City from the heaviest of rains, but parts of the region really saw the skies open up.

Especially in the western Grant and Hettinger counties. This is where we saw the biggest downpours in the state (over 3 inches).

Another stronger cell also brought some 2-inch rains just northeast of Wilton. A much-needed rain to help alleviate the dry or drought conditions in western North Dakota.

As we get closer to the fireworks season and the 4th of July, this is certainly good news. We could see some redevelopment of storms this afternoon, but they are not expected to become severe.

We may not be done with thunderstorms this week in the Capital Region.

Storm chances will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday, so we have moved into a more active weather pattern. June is typically the month that brings us our most rain of the season in North Dakota.

With that in mind, here are your 72-hour rainfall radar estimates from weather.us and reports to the National Weather Service in Bismarck.
