If you have been outside lately, surely you've seen the bee's buzzing around. Yes, they are very active right now and there is a reason for that.

I've seen and heard people talking about the little winged stingers buzzing around lately so I thought I'd do some research on the subject. Here is what I found.

Bee's are very active this time of year because they are building their nest for the next few weeks. The male bees can't sting and the female bees can sting but normally don't sting, unless you grab one, and that would have to be a female bee.

According to the Garden's Alive website, the best thing to do is NOTHING-They are very active now because they are nesting but will settle down in the coming weeks. They are good for your garden and flowers as they pollinate your plants and it's always good to wear sandals while walking in the grass, after all, if you step on one by mistake, their only defense is to sting you. Face it, if you were the size of a bee and a big old foot would come smashing down on you, you'd sting too, even if it would be your last living act!

As hard as it is, your best defense is to ignore them. I know how difficult this can be if they are buzzing around you. Then you go to flapping your arms like a mad man (or woman) and at the very least, you're entertaining your fellow friends who are enjoying their favorite adult beverage and laughing at you!
