Paraglider Crashes Into Power Lines & Into A North Dakota River
I've always been told it's better to be lucky than good.
One paraglider is lucky to be alive when his parachute hit a powerline over the Red River of the North that borders both North Dakota and Minnesota.
A crazy video has been surfacing across social media and has even made National News. All I can say is this guy must have done something right in a previous life.
First of all, he's lucky he wasn't electrocuted.
According to a friend of mine, a lineman who deals with power lines every day, power lines carry extremely high voltages, which can jump across even small air gaps. He easily could've been electrocuted.
Next, he easily could've drowned in the murky and dangerous undertows of the Red River.
This all went down (poor choice of words, I know) last week, near the Riverside Dam in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
A video from Dusty Howlett captured the scary moment as he was walking with a friend and just happened to film the paraglider as he plummeted into the river.
According to KVRR TV, the Grand Forks Fire Department was called in to rescue the paraglider. Amazingly, crews arrived to find the paraglider in the river uninjured.
A rescue boat was launched, and quickly untangled the paraglider from his cables and brought him back to shore.
Thankfully, this scary moment had a happy ending.
