Gateway Mall in Bismarck is Getting Some New Blood

It has been a bumpy ride for Gateway Mall since COVID-19, and I'm not talking about the parking lot. Stores and restaurants began dropping like flies across the Capital Region after the pandemic, and Gateway Mall was no exception.

Now, it looks like longtime tenant Harbor Freight Tools is about to get a new neighbor. Harbor Freight Tools has been in Gateway Mall since August, 2015, and they have seen a lot of neighboring stores come and go over the years.

AutoZone is Coming to Gateway Mall

The automotive parts store AutoZone will be opening up next to Harbor Freight Tools in the Gateway Mall. Bismarck currently has one  AutoZone location located at 2031 East Bismarck Expressway. There's also one AutoZone store located in Mandan at 1120 East Main Street. AutoZone is a national chain that is known for its car part stores, providing advice, batteries, and accessories.

If you are a "do it yourself" mechanic, AutoZone is the largest American retailer of aftermarket automotive parts, accessories, and maintenance items.  It's most famous for its exclusive house-brand products like Duralast, and I know I've used AutoZone many times for their complimentary diagnostic services when the pesky "check engine" light turns on.

What can we expect from the new AutoZone?

First off, it will be opening up late summer or early fall in either August or September, according to an employee I spoke to. Also, this AutoZone is going to be a hub store with a warehouse 10 times bigger than a typical AutoZone store.
