Gas Prices Rising. How High Will It Go In 2021?

Can somebody tell me why when times are bad, gas prices fall, and when things are looking good, gas creeps up?  Well, now that the dumpster fire of a year known as 2020 is over, and COVID-19 numbers are falling, a vaccine is working its way across the country, things are looking up right?  Also going up, GAS PRICES.

The average price at the pump has jumped to $2.29 a gallon here in Bismarck Mandan.  Another question?  When gas prices fall it's usually only 5 cents or so a gallon.  When they rise, it's almost always 10 cents a gallon.  Things that make you go hmmmm.

So just how high will gas prices go in 2021.  According to gas buddy, the average price of gas in the United States at the time of this article is around $2.36 a gallon.  Gas Buddy predicts that gas will increase a modest 27 cents more per gallon in 2021.  That will put it at around $2.63.  Peak prices are expected in July of course, when more people are traveling.  I'll take $2.63 how about you?  That's only another 30 cents higher than what we have going on now in Bismarck Mandan.

According to the article, the average family will see their yearly gas usage rise to $1,670 dollars in 2021.  While much of the United States is expected to remain in the mid 2 dollar range, other parts of the country will more than likely will see $3 dollar or more gas, like Chicago, Major cities in California, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Seattle.

As always, there's several big wild cards that could affect the prices at the pump.  Will oil production globally rebound as quickly as demand may?  If that doesn't happen, we could see spikes at the pump.  We also have a new President-elect Joe Biden who has hinted towards a new policy towards the oil industry and petroleum use.  Those policies could really hurt the North Dakota economy, but that's another story.
