Garth Brooks in Minneapolis Breaks Records and Leaves Fans in Awe! [WATCH]
Garth! Completely rocked the house and I can't really find the words to convey how unbelievable this show was in Minneapolis.I'm too young to know much about Elvis. I have seen Elvis' videos from back in the day when Elvis was the guy who sold out venues and performed several shows in the course of one night to accommodate his fans. Plus, back in those days, there weren't the types of venues we have today that can hold 10,000 plus people plus a huge stage for production.
Being in the music, concert and promotion business, I've seen many shows. It really takes a lot to leave me speechless or make a huge impression in terms of shows and concerts. From rock shows to country and everything in between, I've seen it all. It takes a lot to impress me.
GARTH indeed did this! Let's cover the little details. Garth Brooks had two shows a night for most of his stay in Minneapolis. A 7:30 and 10:30 PM show. I attended the late show and the early show on different nights. Here, we had somewhat of a mess for the late show. Fans leaving as others were arriving and trying to find parking for the late show. The line to get into the Target Center was the LONGEST I have ever seen. The line upstairs (from the parking garages) went from the entry doors all the way through the mall and the again outside. The line downstairs by the box offices moved very fast. These people were exposed to single digit temperatures, The Target Center did a good job at getting the people in the building.
Word quickly spread that Garth would not take the stage until the crowd was seated. I'm sure more than 75% of the crowd did not see Trisha Yearwood.
For fans who thought the ticket prices were out of reach, I guess it depends on your definition of what out of reach is? I checked with the box office throughout the day of the show. Tickets were available and even suite tickets up through showtime. These were single tickets for the price of $70, all inclusive. If you wanted a pair of tickets, you could have bought 1 ticket each to watch the show from a suite level. Seating in the suite level were bar stools at bar tables plus you had a bar, food and bathroom accommodations in the suite for $70 each. But you had to purchase these tickets each, meaning you had to log on twice to purchase each ticket. You couldn't buy both tickets in one log in. People were selling tickets on line for a wide range of prices. I'm always skeptic about purchasing these types of tickets off the guy on the street. It would definitely have to be someone that I knew to buy these types of tickets. After all, you have no recourse if you purchase a fake ticket!
Now for the show. It's obvious Garth has a passion for being on stage. He still has his "awe shucks, golly gee Oklahoma" attitude on stage. There was a definite connection. I think Garth is our Elvis today. He could have made the audience do anything. The production value of the lighting and video, stage and sound were of nothing I have ever seen before in my career! Of course, the show was in the round, the entire arena was his stage. He was complete with back up singers, band and Garth fed off the energy of the crowd!
It's been 16 years since Garth toured so every song performed was a song that you knew. He made it a point to say he'd perform all of his old songs. Let's be real, 99% of his music are old songs. He knew that this is what his fans wanted and he performed every last song, mixed with some new songs.
The entire late show was 3 hours long! We left the arena close to 2 AM.
Depending on the show you attended, the length of each showed varied. I attended the late show Friday and the early show Saturday. Each show was different. The early show was just as good as the late show but it was definitely about 2:45 hours in length, but I could not detect if he left out any music. His line up of songs was different for each show. His interaction with the crowd was electrifying both nights!
$70 well spent!
Even as seasoned concert goer as myself, I walked away in total AWE of his performance, his stamina and love for his fans!
I have no idea how long this tour will last. I have no idea if Garth will perform in secondary markets like Bismarck. My advice, save your coins. This is one show that you definitely want to attend!
