As Bismarck Public Schools prepare to send elementary students back to full-time face to face learning, Fargo is going in the opposite direction.  It was announced yesterday by Fargo Public Schools, that both Fargo Middle and High Schools will be going back to distance learning.  These changes will start Monday, October 5th and go for two weeks according to an article on Valley News Live.

At the time of this article, Fargo's sister city, West Fargo was continuing with it's hybrid model for it's schools systems.  However, for how long?  I would imagine that is a very fluid situation and could change at a moments notice.  According to another article on Valley News Live, Moorhead, Minnesota, Fargo's neighbor to the east, also went back to distance learning after only 10 days of in-person classes.  Those changes in Moorhead, Minnesota will go into effect on Monday, September 28th.

So how will this effect high school sports?  Will they be suspended in Fargo as well?  The Eastern Dakota Conference is already playing an abbreviated schedule for it's Fall sports.  You would think that high contact sports like football would be in the cross hairs unfortunately.

Will this move start a domino effect over the entire education system across the Peace Garden state?  It seems like what Fargo does, other cities like to follow.  Fargo, is also considering a mask or face covering mandate this week as well.  I for one hope we do not follow the Fargo School System and we keep our kids in school in Bismarck and Mandan.  Our kids need normalcy, and at the very least need to stay with hybrid model.
