North Dakota Target Goers Get Ready For A New Customer Policy
Do you like it when employees converse with you while shopping?
As I get older, I find myself enjoying conversations with strangers, including employees of establishments that I frequent. To me, it builds brand loyalty, and I appreciate it when an employee takes the time to find out how my day is going.
Two businesses in the Capital Region that do it right when it comes to customer interactions.
The ones that come to mind that do an excellent job at greeting their customers would be Scheels and the Tri Energy Cenex locations. I love how Scheels employees always greet you with a smile, and then when you check out, they even ask what you have going on for the evening. I realize they are required to do this, but I really believe their employees enjoy the interaction too, and it usually seems very sincere.

I love my Tri Energy Cenex employees; they always brighten my day with their "How's your day going?" or "What's going on for the weekend?" These are employees who know how to treat their customers. That is for sure.
Now, it appears Target is looking to improve its customer interaction experience.
I really can't remember a time when a Target employee greeted me, except maybe at the checkout aisle. Now, Target has a new "10-4 Policy" that requires employees to smile, make eye contact, or wave when a customer is within 10 feet, and to personally greet them with a warm, helpful interaction when they are within 4 feet, according to an article on Yahoo.
The reason for all of this? This initiative will hopefully improve customer service, boost sales, and make it a better overall shopping experience for the customer. A little kindness as we head into the holiday season. I love it.
