Don’t Be Late: When Daylight Saving Time Starts In Bismarck
The Days are Getting Longer
I'm a runner, and I've really noticed on my runs the last few weeks how much daylight we are adding daily. I typically run around 6 pm each night in Bismarck right after dinner or supper, depending on how you say it, and on what type of person you are.
We've gone from being pitch black at 5 pm in late December to still somewhat light at 6 pm. I personally love this, not only do I not have to "glow up" on my evening jog with my pups, but the extra daylight means just one thing: spring is not too far away. Which leads me to my next question.
When does Daylight Saving Time begin in Bismarck, North Dakota?
The official date and time that we "spring forward" will be here in less than a couple of weeks on 2 am on Sunday, March 8th, 2026.
You know the day when we lose an hour of sleep. I know that Daylight Saving Time really affects the sleeping habits of a lot of people. So much so that people and lawmakers have been trying to make it go away permanently. My argument for that is, do you really want it to get dark at 9 pm in the summertime? Think of the things that will be affected by that. Less fishing time, less time for summer sports like softball games, baseball games, golf, ect.
I say buck up, little camper, and deal with the loss of one hour of sleep once a year and keep it the way it is. How do you feel about it?
