Carson Wentz to the Rescue

It wasn't a good day for Minnesota starting quarterback Kyler Murray. His first pass of the season was intercepted, and he was injured early in the first quarter after a brutal hit. Even though he eventually walked off the field to the locker room, it was a scary situation that saw Murray visibly shaking on the field right after the hit. Murray is now in the NFL concussion protocol.

Even if Murray is cleared to play sometime late this week from his concussion symptoms, if he doesn't practice, that means it's unlikely he will play next week when the Vikings will visit Chicago. That means it's a good bet we have at least another week of Carson Wentz.

The Comeback

Wentz wasn't perfect against Green Bay. The offense was slow to start, but Wentz eventually threw 3 touchdown passes, including two to Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson to lead the Vikings to a big comeback. Minnesota trailed Green Bay 22-10 late in the third quarter. The Vikings mounted a massive rally to outscore the Pack 29-3 in the second half. Minnesota would go on to win the game 39-22.

The Statitstics

Again, it wasn't spotless for Bismarck native, Carson Wentz. He missed some open receivers and looked rusty at times. He also benefited from 3 straight 3rd down penalites commited by the Packers' defense to keep a key drive alive, including an interception he threw in the Packers' end zone that was eventually overturned. Wentz would finish the game 12-19, passing for 133 yards. Three touchdowns and zero interceptions. His passer rating was a very good 123.5.

Smart money: we will likely see Wentz against the Bears on Sunday. SKOL!
