Bismarck Is About To Add A New EV Charging Station
If you have an electric vehicle, soon you will have a new option in Bismarck to fast charge your vehicle.
More on that in a minute.
Did you know that North Dakota has the fewest numbers of EVs than any state in the country?
Yep, it's true, according to Exploding Topics, we have the fewest electric vehicles in the entire nation. How few? Try only .08 percent. A total of only 640 EVs in North Dakota. That works out to adoption rates lower than 1 in 1000.
These new charging stations will be a serious upgrade from charging your vehicle at home.
More convenient and much faster. This new fast charging station, when combined with existing charging stations in the state, will help ensure that electric travel across North Dakota is possible.
Still, driving an electric vehicle is an expensive purchase, compared to a traditional gasoline vehicle.
According to NRDC, you will pay about $19,000 dollars more for a new electric vehicle. However, prices for electric vehicles have been falling for the last several years. while gas-powered vehicles have been climbing.
According to Drive Electric North Dakota, there are more than 60 public charging stations in the state. Major cities like Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, Williston, Dickinson, Jamestown, and Bismarck all have multiple charging stations.
Here's a map of where you can find all of the EV charging stations in North Dakota.
As you can see, EV travel is becoming easier with more and more stations popping up across the state. That brings me to our latest in the Capital Region.
The latest EV Charging station in Bismarck will be located in the Menards parking lot on the north side of the lot across from Ruby Tuesday.
The address is 3300 State Street in Bismarck. One of the employees working on the project told me it will be open in two weeks. They are just waiting for the electric company to finish hooking up the power to the station. Kind of ironic.
This will be a fast-charging station that will give your battery a full charge in about 20 minutes.
Here are a couple of snapshots I took of the station.
Oh, don't even think about parking in one of these spots and running into Menards if you are not charging your vehicle.
