Another Apartment Fire in Bismarck: Several Families Homeless
Sadley, Another Apartment Fire in Bismarck
According to a press release from the Bismarck Fire Department, they were called to an apartment fire at approximately 8:36 pm on Friday, May 15th, at the Kirkwood Park Apartments on East Arbor Avenue in Bismarck.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in short order at 8:39 pm to find a visible fire affecting units on all three floors. Fire crews deployed hose lines and extinguished the bulk of the fire from the exterior of the building. Additional fire crews searched the building and evacuated occupants. Once the fire was confirmed out, an overhaul operation was conducted to locate and extinguish any smoldering areas or materials. The building was then ventilated to clear the smoke.
Thankfully, No Injuries or Fatalities
There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters. Unfortunately, one dog was found deceased. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Here's a video of the aftermath of the scene courtesy of one of our listeners, Markus Fitterer, on Facebook. (Firefighters with hoses deployed, cleaning up any hot spots at the apartment.)
The fire was visible along the Bismarck Expressway last evening in South Bismarck. This, of course, is the 2nd apartment fire in the last couple of weeks in the Capital City. The Alberta Heights blaze in North Bismarck heavily damaged or destroyed over 60 units, and led to partial building collapses. It also displaced 109 residents.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to all affected by these two tragic situations.
