Bed Bath & Beyond Closing 200 Stores. What It Means For Bismarck.
Bed Bath and Beyond announced recently the closing of 37 of approximately 200 stores it plans to close in the coming weeks. No North Dakota stores are on that list at this time. You can see all of them here in an article from CNN Business. The closest stores are in Minnesota in Duluth and Eagen down in the Twin Cities area.
No stores in South Dakota or Montana are on the list to close for the initial list of 37 stores either.
So, what does that mean for our local Bed Bath and Beyond in Bismarck? That store is located in Hay Creek Shops at 1455 E. LaSalle Drive. I spoke with one of the managers from Bed Bath and Beyond locally and asked if he knows if our local store is a candidate for potential closure. He told me, "he has no clue at this time and I should reach out to corporate." Which I did, but I was unable to get an answer.
I'm certainly not going to speculate one way or another, whether our local Bismarck store could be on the list. I know a lot of people in the Bismarck area sure hope it's not. With only 37 of 200 stores announced at this time, that means another 163 Bad Bath and Beyond stores across the country will be announced in the near future. Bed Bath and Beyond currently operates approximately 1,530 stores in all 50 U.S. states, as well as in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada. If you go by the math, at least the odds are in our favor that we will keep our local Bed Bath and Beyond in Bismarck.
