An iconic Italian restaurant in North Dakota is closing its doors for good.

News started to circulate on social media yesterday, as I came across a post that was speculating they were closing, as a customer who stopped by the restaurant claimed it was shut down.

As it turns out, the Italian/pizza place has been closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for a while now. Then there was speculation that this beloved North Dakota pizza joint was moving to a smaller location. It looks like that is false as well.

I decided to go straight to the horse's mouth (the restaurant's website), and they are indeed closing for good.

To say this Italian restaurant has been a mainstay in this North Dakota community would be an understatement.

They have been in business for 60 years in Grand Forks, North Dakota. A restaurant staple for sure, and a household name.

This was a place enjoyed by families on their way to a UND hockey game or to watch a big high school game. At one time, it was just about impossible to find a table on a Friday or Saturday evening.

It was also a popular spot for a lunch or dinner buffet in Grand Forks. Besides Italian/pizza, this restaurant was also known for its chicken, Mexican, and delicious chips and salsa.

The Italian Restaurant that is closing for good is none other than the Italian Moon in Grand Forks.

According to their website, their last days will be June 18th, 19th, and 20th. The website mentioned the decision was made with a "heavy heart".

There is a pretty good chance that if you ever went to Grand Forks for one of your kids' sporting events, you made a stop at the Italian Moon before or after the game.

We're losing another legendary North Dakota restaurant. Farewell to "The Moon".
