One sure sign that you are getting older is that you like to B*tch about high prices.

It's funny, I never seemed to care about prices growing up. I don't ever remember worrying about gas prices, rent, the price of drinks at the bar, or inflation in general.

Now, that I'm just a little bit older, not only do high prices bother me but they piss me off.

I can't but help shake my head every time I head into a grocery store wondering how we can be paying prices that we now pay for meat, fruit, and vegetables.

There was a time when buying from the grocery store was so much cheaper than going out to a restaurant. Not anymore.

I find myself doing things like looking for the cheapest steak sauce, (who can afford steak now?) trying to find bulk deals, or anything to make 4 grocery bags a $100 dollars.

I've also figured out that different items around town are cheaper depending on the grocery store you go to. Sometimes significantly, so I find myself bouncing around buying different things from different grocery stores, all in the name of saving money.

Speaking of which, did you know one grocery store in America has been named "the cheapest" overall?

We have 3 locations across the state of North Dakota, and unfortunately for the Capital City residents, we do not have one here.

Two are located in Fargo and one is in my hometown of Grand Forks.

The grocery chain I'm referring to that has been named the cheapest in the country is ALDI.

This data came from a report from US News & World Report, and it's interesting to note that ALDI actually came in at #7 in their Top 10 Cheapest Grocery Store Chains. None of the Top 6 are in North Dakota.

However, we do have the #9 Costco and #10 Sams Club here in Bismarck and other cities around the state.

Like I said, I've never been the coupon or discount savings kind of guy, but I am now. Here's to hoping we get an ALDI in Bismarck Mandan soon.
