A brand new business that the city of Lincoln, North Dakota, could really use will be taking up a space in the building above.

It's well documented that Lincoln, North Dakota, is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. It recently went ahead of Grafton to become the 16th largest city in North Dakota, according to World Population Review.

Not bad for a city that a lot of people on the eastern side of the state haven't even heard of. Lincoln now boasts a population of 4,529. According to Wikipedia, Lincoln didn't even become a city in the state until 1977, making it one of the newer cities in the state.

The man responsible for so much of Lincoln's growth, Lance Hagen, first made me aware of a new strip mall right off Lincoln Road back in November of 2022.

The one knock on the city of Lincoln is the lack of infrastructure and certain amenities.  Hagen has been working on changing that with the addition of the "Thunder Strip Mall" to go with the already occupied "Lightning Strip Mall," which is close by.

The "Lightning Strip Mall" is occupied by Lightning Fitness, Hometown Credit Union, and Wild One Daycare.

River Liquor was the very first tenant in the Thunder Strip Mall.

River Liquor has sat alone in the strip mall since last fall, but that is about to change.

I spoke with Lance Hagen earlier this week, who told me he has another tenant coming into the strip mall. Hagen owns a lot of land in the Lincoln area.  He's been responsible for many projects over the years, including the addition of Dollar General to Lincoln.

The Thunder Strip Mall is a 9,000-foot strip mall that is just west of the church on Lincoln Road. The strip mall has 5 lease spaces, but that configuration could change depending on the tenants.

What we do know is that Lincoln is about to get a pharmacy.

With just about everyone being on some sort of medication these days, this is good news. Now, the citizens of Lincoln, who mostly commute to Bismarck for work, will be able to conveniently pick up their medications close to home.

Which pharmacy is coming to Lincoln?

You will recognise the name for sure. Kenny Haugen, who owns "The Medicine Shoppe" in Mandan, will be opening up another Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in the space to the west of River Liquor.

They plan to add a drive-thru on the west side of the building. I spoke with Kenny over the phone recently, and he is very excited to bring a pharmacy to Lincoln.

Kenny Haugen is a 2020 NDSU graduate. He told me the Medicine Shoppe in Lincoln will specialize in quality patient care, immunizations, and medication synchroization, much like his Mandan pharmacy.

When will the Medicine Shoppe in Lincoln officially open?

Both Haugen and Hagen told me they are shooting for a July 1st opener, but that will depend on construction. At the very least, they hope to have it open by early fall.

The hours of the new Lincoln Medicine Shoppe have not been determined yet, but Haugen told me he's very much aware of the commute time for most Lincoln residents, and they may have to adjust accordingly.

We welcome The Medicine Shoppe, all the best, and welcome to Lincoln.
