The 7th annual Mandan "litter" clean up day is coming on Saturday, May 16th.  The City of Mandan Community Beautification Committee and Mandan Progress Organization are moving forward with plans for their Annual Community Litter Clean-Up Day albeit in a social distancing manner.

Due to the coronavirus the clean up day will operate differently than in previous year.  If you would like to help you MUST pre-register at www.cityofmandan.com/register by Tuesday, May 12th.  Volunteers will be pre-assigned to a cleanup route and will be notified by email prior.  No more than ten people will be assigned to an area and social distancing guidelines will be in place.  You are expected to wear gloves, long pants, closed-toe shoes and wear or bring bug repellent.  Organizers are working on lining up face coverings and medical grade gloves.

This is pretty incredible when you think about it.  Each year more than 200 volunteers collect 400 to 500 bags of trash from ditches along major roadways in Mandan. Businesses, civic organizations and youth groups are all invited to take a route.

This years monetary sponsors include American Family Insurance, Terry Kraft Agency; BNC National Bank; Butcher Block Meats; Capital Credit Union; Dakota Home Care; Dakota Promotions and Printing; Kupper Chevrolet Subaru; Mandan Lions; Prairie Rose Family Dentists, Dr. Sid Schmidt; and Starion Bank.

There will be snacks and beverages for volunteers provided by local businesses including Bearscat Bakehouse, Cappuccino on Collins, Dan’s Supermarket, Pepsi Beverages, and Frito Lay. Awesome 2 Products and Dakota Community Bank are providing hand sanitizer.

All volunteers will have a chance to win prizes.  Updates will be on the city of Mandan website and facebook page.
