Sneak Peak: New Store Opening Soon At Kirkwood Mall Bismarck

A new discount retailer is about to open up in Kirkwood Mall.

The store 5 Below will be taking up residence in the Kirkwood Mall soon.  The exact date has not been announced but judging by a post on the Kirkwood Mall Facebook page it will be any day now.

The store looks to be similar to the Dollar General and Dollar Stores of the world.

5 Below was seen recently with a recruitment table at Kirkwood Mall handing out applications and doing on-the-spot interviews last week.  Those interviews will continue again this week from 11 am to 6 pm Thursday through Saturday.

5 Below will be located in the North Court of Kirkwood Mall.

The store is currently installing fixtures in their space in preparation for merchandise to go into those spaces.  It appears from these photos from the Kirkwood Mall Facebook page this store will be wide open and very bright.  Something a little different from other discount retailers.

As you can see from the photos, not all items in the store will be $5 dollars or below.  There will be products above $5 dollars as well in a separate area called "5 Above".

This will not be the first 5 Below in North Dakota.  There are two stores already, one located in Minot, and the other in Fargo.

According to Wikipedia, 5 Below is a National chain with over 1,100 stores across the United States.  The store is aimed at tweens and teens and was founded by Tom Vellios and David Schlessinger.  5 Below's headquarters is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The majority of the products are less than $5 dollars with a small assortment from $6 to $25 dollars.
