Guns can be a controversial topic across this country.

Not in North Dakota however.  The majority of us support the 2nd amendment and fight to protect it.

I was just speaking with a friend of mine who lives overseas about this subject.  One of the reasons we will never have to fear an invasion from another country in America is because the citizens of the USA are well-armed.

If any country tries to go "Red Dawn" on us we will be ready.

I ran across an article yesterday on the most heavily armed counties across America.

According to City-Data, no surprise we have a county from North Dakota in the Top 100 in the country.  I guess the only surprise would be which one in my opinion.  I'm also surprised we don't have more than one county on the list.  Obviously, population has a lot to do with that.  If this list was based on the most heavily armed counties per capita, I'm guessing most of our North Dakota counties would be on the list.

So, which county in North Dakota is "packing" the most?  Yep, our most populated.  Cass County, home to Fargo.

Cass County came in at #43 in the country with 40.4% of the county owning a firearm.

Other regional counties to make the top 100 most heavily armed across the country include:

Montana-Yellowstone County came in at #15 home to Billings where 48.7 of the population owns a firearm.

South Dakota-Pennington County came in at #13 (the highest in the region) home to Rapid City with 49.4 percent of the population owning a firearm.

South Dakota-Minnehaha County came in at #23 home to Sioux Falls with 46.1 of the population owning a firearm.

Minnesota-Anoka County came in at #44 home to Blaine with 40.3 of the population owning a firearm.

Minnesota-Dakota County came in at #74 home to Eagen with 33.6 percent of the population owning a firearm.
