North Dakotans love to hunt and fish.

I don't think there is another state in the entire country where hunting, fishing, and trapping are more revered.  It's a way of life for so many, and even if you don't hunt, it's an accepted activity by just about everyone living in the Peace Garden State.

Believe me, it's not that way in other states and especially other parts of the country outside of the upper Midwest.

In other parts of the country, say in California, if you go duck hunting one weekend, you may encounter opposition.  Even though most states have laws to protect hunters from harassment, that doesn't stop the anti's of the world or organizations like PETA from trying to ruin your day.

I've spoken to fellow North Dakota duck hunters like myself who have been harassed on the East Coast before.

It's so bad when you go out on a boat into the ocean in some of the bigger cities out east, the guides tell you to hide your guns when going out and coming back in from the day, so citizens think you are fishing, which is considered more acceptable with the general public.

Otherwise, you might be subject to anit-hunting people vandalizing your vehicle or boat trailer. Pretty sad, but that is a fact in many urban areas across the country.

Luckily, in places like North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and South Dakota, you're pretty safe if you like to hunt.

And, if you just can't get enough of hunting, did you know there are 11 animals you can hunt year-round in North Dakota?

Let's explore these possibilities for you now, according to the North Dakota Game & Fish Department.
